Collection: Flower Agate
Flower Agate is a type of translucent chalcedony, known for the flower patterns within the agate. It is commonly composed of combinations of manganese and iron inclusions that create patterns in white, grey, pink, orange, and reds.
Like other types of Agate, flower agate is a a subtype of microcrystalline quartz. It is known for multi-colored circular banding. The banding forms from silica rich minerals in groundwater filling open cavities within rock. This deposits crystals along the walls of cavity. The impurities within the minerals create the rings, cracks, and unique colors in the agate. Agate can have many different colors. As agate forms along walls of open cavities in rock, it commonly occurs on fossils.
